Too good to be true
05.31.04 (3:17 am)   [edit]
I knew it was too good to be true to expect me and my sister not to have gotten into an argument before the weekend's over. She's been home since Thursday, having taken a couple of days off to turn the already long weekend into a longer one, but maybe it's more surprising that we went this long without having one. As usual though, it was her who kicked off. I seem to have this habit though of always saying the wrong thing, if only I knew what the wrong thing was. It seems to change all the time. Right now she's not speaking to me but hopefully that'll change before the end of the day because it always makes for a difficult and awkward atmosphere.

My mum and step-dad went up to Selfriges (a big department store) in Central London this morning to buy an eliptical machine which is a piece of fitness equipment for those who don't know. It's sort of like 3 things in one: exercise bike, stepper and ski machine, and is supposed to really burn calories. My mum suffers from high blood pressure and needs to keep her weight down and while she and my step-dad do go for a long walk every morning, sometimes the typical British weather can interfere with that. This way, they can still go for their walk but can add to their fitness by using this. I used one of these when I used to go to the gym and they're pretty good. I'll definitely be using it when it's delivered and installed. :D I think getting myself into a good diet and fitness programme will hopefully help improve my moods. The last couple of days have been good and I'm feeling more positive about things which is nice.

I actually did a little bit of writing yesterday so I'm hoping things improve on that score too. I've also got a new idea for a fic but I need to work things out before I decide whether I can write it or not. It's a crossover fic which is something I've never attempted to write before. I've got lots of ideas for it so hopefully it's something I'll get to write...eventually. :)

A little something...

Here's a little quiz I 'borrowed' from shelbecat which I thought was kinda cute:

A - Act your age? Nope, I'm still a big kid
B - Breast size? 36E (I wish I was kidding!)
C - Chore you hate? Ironing
D - Dad's name? Ron
E - Essential make up item? Lipstick and eyeliner - sorry, but I can't choose b/w them.
F - Favorite singer? Darren Hayes
G - Gold or silver? Silver
H - Hometown? West London, England
I - Instruments you play? None
J - Job title? Secretary (but I'm currently between jobs)
K - Kids? Don't think so
L - Living arrangements? At home with parents and sister
M - Mom's name? Maria
N - Number of people you've fallen in love with? 1
O - Overnight hospital stays? A few. I had surgery on my legs to straighten them as a baby so I was in there a while, a four day stay when having tonsils out at age 10 and then an overnight stay when having my wisdom teeth removed in my early 20s.
P - Phobia? Spiders
Q - Quote you like? Treat others as you yourself like to be treated
R - Religious affiliation? Roman Catholic but a seriously lapsed one
S - Siblings? One younger sister
T - Time you wake up? Between 5:50 and 6 am
U - Underwear of choice? Depends on what I'm wearing
V - Vegetable you refuse to eat? Aubergine (sp?)
W - Worst habit? Biting the skin on my lips (I know, totally gross!)
X - X-rays you've had? My legs when I was a baby
Y - Yummy foods you make? Anything microwaveable or that can be heated in the oven. Oh, and toasted cheese sandwiches.
Z - Zodiac Sign? Pisces

I watched the season finale of Without A Trace on Tuesday which I'd recorded the previous night. I'm so glad Channel 4 aired it as a double bill as it was a two-parter. I thought it was brilliant and they dealt with the 9/11 story very well. I'm always wary when shows use that as a storyline but I thought the writers did a great job and it seriously had me in tears by the end. This show has really grabbed me and I can't wait to see Season 2 which apparently airs here later this year. I'm also hoping that I'll get the opportunity to see the S1 eps I missed.

Last night was the season finale of Friends and I loved it. I'm so glad the writers tied up all the loose ends and had happy endings for all the characters. Straight after that aired, FTN aired the interview Jay Leno did with the whole cast. The out-takes he showed (which apparently are available on the Season 10 DVD Boxset) were hilarious and I'm definitely getting that boxset when it's released here in August.

Big Brother 5 started here last night and will run for the next 12 weeks. Thanks to the 24 hours a day coverage that E4 is planning, it means that The O.C. is going to be postponed. Or that's the rumour I've heard anyway. So tomorrow night's episode is probably going to be the last one until the end of the summer. It's so unfair that those of us (me included) who hate BB are going to miss out on all our fave E4 shows. I watched the first 3 seasons of BB off and on but last year's sucked big time. From the looks of things, it looks like the people behind the show are desperate to have a couple having sex like has happened in some of the other countries, but if you'd seen the misfits who are in the house this year, I don't think anyone's gonna want to see them having sex. Yuck!!!

Ugh!!!
05.25.04 (11:42 am)   [edit]
Yesterday was a good day but today sucks big time!!! All I want to do is scream or cry or hit something, better yet someone. My mood swings are driving me insane and I wish I knew why I was suddenly feeling this unbelievable anger about anything and everything. I've always been someone who's pretty easy going yet this past few weeks have seen me fluctuate between a panic-stricken nutcase and someone who hasn't wanted to wake up each morning to someone who's feeling fairly okay about things. I can't seem to remember what it feels like to smile and I desperately want to smile again.

TV Heaven!!
05.24.04 (9:23 pm)   [edit]
So, I spent this weekend watching a marathon of Angel, Tru Calling and Without A Trace which was pretty cool. These have got to be my favourite shows right now along with The O.C. and Friends. I think I'm gonna be so lost after the last episode of Friends airs this coming Friday night. Channel 4 - which airs the show in the UK (along with E4) - has got billboard posters up everywhere calling it Black Friday. I can't believe I've watched this show for ten years. Where has all the time gone!!

Why is it that every time my sister asks me to hang out with her and watch TV or a movie she falls asleep on me? There was this one time we were watching a DVD and she zonked out and then the next two times we re-watched it so that she could see the end of it, she fell asleep both damn times!! And she wonders why I'm always reluctant to watch something with her.

Apart from watching TV, I've been really busy this past week with housework. My mum, my stepdad and myself have been spring cleaning which is just so knackering. It didn't help that last week was really warm but at least it's done now. Yay!! :D

When I've had a little free time I've been reading a helluva lot of B/A fanfic. It's so funny how most of the fics I've read have Cordy as an uber bitch but I ain't complaining. Some of the best ones I've read have been really angsty but they all end up happily for B&A which is all I care about. I didn't mind the Buffy/Spike relationship in the show but, in my opinion, it didn't compare at all with Buffy and Angel's. I just wish that Joss had Buffy and Angel reunited in the season finale of Angel but I'm fairly sure that hasn't happened. Usually I love being spoiled but I don't really want to know what happens in the finale before I watch it. I've got a feeling I'm going to end up being disappointed. :(

Oh, before I forget, Vera has made screencaps of the trailer for Brendan's movie, Sugar. You can find those HERE . Brendan's looking so damn hot in them!! I need to make some to download the trailer.

As I mentioned above, I've really gotten into Without A Trace and I can't help noticing that Poppy Montgomery who plays Agent Sam Spade bears a striking similarity to Majandra. I personally think they could easily play sisters in a movie or TV show. What does anyone else think?

[image]candyspark_8035369 31.jpg[/image]

I'm feeling even more guilty about my writing. I haven't written a damn thing for ages except for helping Amber (along with Val) write a scene for her current fic. Other than that, I haven't touched any of my fics. I keep receiving e-mails from people asking me when the next part's going to be posted which is very flattering but it just makes me feel even worse for not updating. I can't even blame writer's block for this. It's more like I've lost my motivation and I'm seriously hoping it returns soon.

Oh well, I guess I've rambled on for long enough so I'll leave it there.

I know it's not really funny but...
05.15.04 (1:29 pm)   [edit]
My favourite newspaper is a tabloid. There, I've admitted it. It's called The Sun and just because I read it doesn't mean I've got a mental age of 8 like some of the more superior English papers reckon of Sun readers. I'd rather read The Sun and have a good laugh at some of the more lighthearted stories than just be depressed with all the bad news that's going on at home and abroad.

Anyway, there's a problem page in the paper called Dear Deidre and it's definitely one of my favourite columns. This is a story that appeared today and I know it's not supposed to be funny but it definitely made me laugh.

[b]Tattoo Gives Me Willies

Dear Deidre,

My husband's new tattoo gives me the creeps and it is wrecking our love life.

I'm 38 and my husband is 37. We have four children.

Our sex life was always great, including lots of oral sex, until recently when he came home with a snake tattooed around his manhood.

You could have floored me. It was so unexpected and I am scared to death of snakes.

He is well-endowed so the snake is very prominent.

I can't bring myself to go near it, I'm too scared. I can't even talk about it to him. Now I'm worried he will look elsewhere for sex.[/b]

This is the agony aunt's reply:

[b]Deidre says:

Had your fear of snakes never cropped up in conversation with your husband?

If not, you must tell him immediately why you have suddenly become so wary.

The trouble is that it's going to be next to impossible for him to remove the tattoo, so you may have to work on overcoming your phobia.

After all, this is just a tattoo, not the real thing.

It could be as simple as closing your eyes. After all, nothing has really changed. [/b]

I'm sorry but [i]"nothing has really changed"[/i]? WTF? Her husband's just come home with a fucking snake tattooed on his dick and she's petrified of the things.

Sometimes the advice ole Deidre dishes out is just priceless.

The banner on the right of the page was made by Mel (melcandy at MB) to promote getting the alternative version of Majandra and RoBERT's duet released on CD. If you're interested, click on it to be taken to the poll. Rock The Vote people!! :D

On a separate note, my sister's been really sweet to me today. She came home from shopping with a gorgeous blueberry muffin for me and a copy of S.W.A.T. on DVD. Yummy!! Now, am I talking about the muffin or Colin Farrell? I'll let you decide.

I'm back!!
05.13.04 (6:48 am)   [edit]
The last few days have been a nightmare for me but, with the help of some of the sweetest people I know online, I'm feeling better. What's happened still hurts but at the end of the day it's that person's problem and not mine. Who'd have thought that the breakdown of an online friendship could be just as painful as the breakdown of a real-life one. Hmm. :(

Okay, back on to fun stuff. Here's a little something I 'borrowed' from mornin_star at Busted_Fans Community

[b]Choose a band/or artist and answer only in song TITLES by that band: Busted

Are you female or male: Britney
Describe yourself: Why
How do some people feel about you: Dawson's Geek
How do you feel about yourself: Psycho Girl
Describe your ex girlfriend/boyfriend: Loser Kid
Describe your current crush: What I Go To School For
Describe where you want to be: Year 3000
Describe what you want to be: Better Than This
Describe how you live: Crash And Burn
Describe how you love: All The Way
Share a few words of wisdom: Sleeping With The Light On [/b]

Most people who know me by now are aware of my fanfic addiction and for a long while it was pretty much just Roswell fanfic that I read. The last couple of days I've discovered this absolutely amazing Buffy/Angel author called Gia and her stories are indescribable. The majority of them are NC-17 - my favourite rating btw (as if you didn't already know that) ;) - but the actual stories are more than just smut. Another guilty pleasure to add to my Candy and Seth/Summer love.

For people in France, Majandra and RoBERT's video to Le Prince Bleu is airing on TV this week which is very cool. Franck posted earlier today that hopefully at some point it will be available to download.

We've got a poll going on there as well to see who is willing to buy the other version of the single. Apparently the distributor has said it's not worth releasing a single until there is a big enough selling potential. The magic number that they appear to be aiming for is 10,000 so let's hope enough interest can be raised. The version they want released will be available on RoBERT's new album which, I think, is out some time this month and it's apparently pretty different from the CD that came with Arkanium.

For anyone interested, the poll can be found HERE .

I just found this cute little quiz over at Roswell Elementary and these are my results:

Which Roswell Elementary Character Are You?

this quiz was made by Emily and Kara

I'm so tired!!
05.05.04 (11:29 pm)   [edit]
I haven't been sleeping all that well these past couple of weeks. I either can't get to sleep at all or I keep waking up every couple of hours. I don't know if this crappy weather we're having is partly responsible. It's so grey, damp and miserable. The past couple of days we've had really heavy thunderstorms - which I hate by the way - and then a couple of hours later we've got blazing sunshine. A couple more hours later and it's grey again with big black clouds.

Anyway, I hope this ends soon because I seriously need some sleep.

I posted the first part of a new story I've written over at RCWW yesterday - the title of which is a Beyonce track. That's what you get when you hear the same song played over and over on the radio and music video stations. Thanks to the ladies at the group, I've made a few changes and I wrote a bit more for it last night so hopefully I can get it finished before the weekend.

I find that when I'm stuck writing one of the current fics, it helps to take a bit of a break from it and write a one-off fic. For some reason, it can make quite a difference and I then find that I can continue with the other fic. I'm hoping that's what will happen with this.

I also finished my first Seth and Summer fic which can be found here if anyone's interested in checking it out:

Contradiction

I got some strange feedback yesterday for my fic, "Don't You Know Who I Am?" That's the one where M&M meet on a plane and then join the Mile High Club. Anyway, I got one of the feedback forms via my fanfic site and this person said she liked it but the sex scenes were "a bit un-M&M." That got me confused because the fic is clearly marked AU (Alternate Universe) and plus, how does she know what kind of sex M&M have? *lol* It's not like we got to see that on Roswell. I wish!! ;) That's the third comment I've had like that where people have said they don't like my stories because they're too AU. Why read them then, you know. If I was someone who didn't like AU fics, I wouldn't click on the links to read them. As it happens, AU stories are probably my favourites to read and, as most of what I've written has been AU, I'd say they're my favourite to write too.

I thought writing fanfic was about having fun and enjoying it but after receiving those types of comments, it makes me wonder whether I should bother anymore. :(

Relax, don't do it...
05.03.04 (10:04 am)   [edit]
Today's a Bank Holiday in the UK so today I've done nothing. Absolute bliss!! :D There's nothing on TV tonight except for Without A Trace which is on at 10 pm so I'm going to try and work on one or two of my fics. It doesn't help lessen my guilt when someone posts fb saying, "Do you have to keep us waiting so long..." I know it's annoying when a story you like isn't updated as often as you'd like it to be, but unless you're a writer I guess it's hard to understand that sometimes it's difficult to be in the right mood to write. It's definitely flattering for someone to feel that way about something I've written but it makes me feel more guilty for being stuck. :(

Last night was a good TV night what with the latest episodes of The O.C. and then Alias. We're starting to get to the good stuff now with Seth and Summer and I've been cheating by looking stuff up at various sites to see what's going to be happening.

Here's one of the caps I've found:

[image]candyspark_4098772 23.jpg[/image]

Aww!!

I've come across some music vids for the characters but unfortunately they don't work on my PC which sucks. Kerstin (FehrsTabascoGirlie) has set up a website, Orange Sky, with a couple of other people to make O.C. music vids and as she's made some brilliant ones for Roswell I can't wait to see her O.C. ones. Hopefully, she'll make some S/S vids soon. She's said she will but wants to concentrate on the characters that don't get too much attention to start with.

I really didn't think I'd get into The O.C. the way I have done, especially as the first couple of episodes weren't brilliant. They were good but they didn't totally grab me in the way some other shows have. I'm definitely glad I kept watching though because it's one of my fave shows right now.

Oh, I bought Busted's new single, Air Hostess, the other day and it's got the video clip on it which is way cool. I have to say Charlie's looking really good in it. ;) Anyway, they ran a competition on their website a month or two ago where you could submit a question to them and out of all the entries they would pick three or four to answer on the interactive section of the next CD. Those people who's questions weren't chosen would be included in a roll call and when I checked the CD out on my PC yesterday I saw my name included in the roll call. Yay!! I didn't think my question - which was, "If you could collaborate with any band/singer who would it be and why?" - would be chosen but it was really cool to see my name on there.

Okay, off to try and do some writing.
